Pudur bus stop and the bus stop near Avinashilingam Institute on Mettupalayam Road. The Corporation is currently preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project. The proposed shelters, measuring 20 ft by 12 ft, will have air-conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity and facilities to display bus routes and real-time bus arrival information.
They will also have seating arrangements, ramps and other accessibility features to facilitate the use of shelters by persons with disabilities and other passengers. The two bus stops were selected considering the passenger footfall, particularly the number of students travelling to and from educational institutions in the vicinity. The availability of adequate space to construct the shelters was also taken into account. The Corporation plans to implement the project under the PPP model.
The pilot initiative is expected to help assess the feasibility of providing similar passenger amenities at other busy bus stops in the city. Published - November 02, 2026 07:05 pm IST
