The solemn occasion is observed with the belief that prayers assist souls in purgatory on their path to Heaven.As a gesture of remembrance, believers cleaned burial sites before lighting candles and placing flowers and wreaths upon the graves of their loved ones. Special masses were also held across local churches.Devotional gatherings and prayers took place at cemeteries in Mahaboobpalayam, Kalavasal, Karpaga Nagar, Thuvariman, and surrounding areas.
