Security forces deployed in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh received high praise for successfully dismantling Naxal terror networks and establishing an environment conducive to local development. The occasion marks a historic milestone, representing the first time in decades that every district across India is entirely free from Naxalism and Maoist insurgency.
During the national address, officials underscored the critical role of internal security and paid tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by numerous security agencies. Those honored for their dedication included the Central Reserve Police Force, CoBRA commandos, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, state police forces, and the specialized Bastar Fighters unit.
Looking back at the historical scale of the challenge, left-wing extremism previously impacted more than 230 districts spread across nearly 20 states, with insurgents launching up to 2,000 violent attacks every year. Authorities recalled the devastating 2010 Dantewada ambush, which claimed the lives of 76 CRPF personnel and resulted in 44 civilian casualties, as a stark reminder of the dark period before lasting peace was finally achieved.
