Director S Shankar shared his appraisal of director Nitesh Tiwari's epic feature Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend following its theatrical release on November 5. Taking to social media to share his review, the filmmaker lauded the scale of the production, describing the project as a visual spectacle that establishes new standards for the domestic film industry. He commended producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari for elevating production values to international levels.

In his social media post, Shankar pointed out the visual effects, technical execution, and musical score composed by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. He drew specific attention to actor Yash, who plays the character of Ravana, characterizing his portrayal as a central highlight of the project. Shankar noted that the actor maintained a strong presence in every frame, while also offering his best wishes to lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.

Responding to the critique, director Nitesh Tiwari acknowledged the message on social media, expressing his appreciation with folded-hands emojis. Shankar's assessment follows earlier commentary from filmmakers SS Rajamouli and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who previously shared their own praise for the scale and execution of the literary adaptation.

Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend draws from sage Valmiki's ancient text, the Ramayan, alongside the sixteenth-century bhakti-poet Goswami Tulsidas's epic poem, the Ramcharitmanas. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Yash as Ravana. The expansive cast additionally features Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Indira Krishnan as Queen Kaushalya, Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjiva, and Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra.

The feature concludes with a post-credits sequence that introduces actor Sunny Deol in the role of Lord Hanuman. That character is set to play a prominent role in the upcoming second instalment of the franchise, Ramayana: Part 2, which is slated for a theatrical release in 2028.
