A routine gas cylinder delivery turned into a terrifying moment in Bengaluru's Malleshwaram when the cylinder suddenly burst into flames and exploded moments after being placed at a doorstep. The delivery executive had a narrow escape as he quickly moved away from the fire.

The entire incident, captured on CCTV, shows flames erupting without warning before a loud explosion. The incident took place while the executive was delivering the cylinder to a house. Fortunately, he managed to step back as soon as the fire erupted and escaped without any life-threatening injuries.According to preliminary information, a lit diya at the entrance of the house is suspected to have triggered the fire.

The woman residing there had reportedly washed the doorstep, performed a ritual and lit the lamp shortly before the delivery executive arrived.Unaware of the burning lamp and the suspected gas leak, the executive placed the cylinder near the entrance after carrying it on his shoulder. A slight gas leak is suspected to have been present in the cylinder.

Moments after it was placed on the ground, the leaking gas is believed to have come into contact with the lamp's flame, triggering a sudden fire and explosion. The explosion prompted the delivery executive to immediately move away from the cylinder, helping him avoid serious injuries. The police have urged residents and delivery personnel to exercise extra caution while handling gas cylinders, particularly during festivals, deliveries and when placing them near house entrances. - Ends
