Patna,Nov 2, 2026 22:51 ISTJanshakti Janta Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav has renewed his appeal to the central and Bihar governments for increased security, citing his growing popularity after a recent appearance on a reality show, Press Trust of India reported.Yadav said large crowds gather around him at public places and events, posing a risk to him and the sole security guard assigned to him.In a post on X, Yadav said fans often surround him for photographs. âIt is a matter of grave concern that the state government has currently provided me with only one security personnel,â said Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad. He warned that the guard could be overwhelmed by crowds and that there was also a risk of the guard's government-issued weapon being snatched. According to PTI, Yadav claimed that he had repeatedly informed the central and Bihar governments about his security concerns, both verbally and in writing, but his security cover had not been increased.âI once again urge the central and Bihar governments to take immediate cognisance of the matter, considering my growing popularity, the large crowds at public events and the serious security concerns involved,â he said. âWho will take responsibility if an untoward incident involving me or my security personnel occurs?
Is the government waiting for something unfortunate to happen?â Yadav asked, urging the authorities to provide adequate security without further delay. He said he was not seeking special privileges but necessary protection for himself and his security personnel.Tej Pratap was expelled from the RJD for six years by his father on May 25 last year, a day after he reportedly said he was âin a relationshipâ with a woman. He later deleted the Facebook post and claimed that his page had been âhackedâ.
Lalu Prasad also disowned him over his âirresponsible behaviourâ after he formed the JJD.Yadav has now again asked the central and Bihar governments to increase his security, saying large public gatherings could endanger both him and his lone guard.- Ends
