Bonus disbursement at engineering, textile and apparel industries in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts is under way and is likely to be over by November 5.Trade union leaders said some factories in the district are paying a slightly higher bonus compared with last year while the rest were paying the same amount as last year.“These are units with unions. At the units where most of the workers are from other States and districts and are not part of any union, we have no idea what is happening.
It all depends on the management,” said CITU leader Perumal.In the case of apparel units in Tiruppur, and AITUC leader said some of the industry leaders have spoken of the slowdown in orders and the impact on the factories. “However, we do not expect any major problem with regard to bonus payment,” he said.
