Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary claimed that 'apradh' had ended in the state, saying that while 'crime' could happen, 'apradh' could not. However, NCRB data shows Bihar recorded a cognisable crime rate of 277.1 per lakh population in 2022, lower than the national average of 422.2. The state also recorded 2,786 murders in 2024 and 1,376 in January-June 2025. Recoveries of country-made firearms more than doubled between 2015 and 2024, according to SCRB data.
