A 44-year-old man was run over by a truck after he fell down from his two-wheeler in Madhavaram on Tuesday. A senior official of the Avadi Police Commissionerate said Saravanan, a resident of Puzhal, was working as a clerk at a private company near Manali.

Saravanan used to commute to his work place in a two-wheeler on the Kosappur National Highway in Madhavaram. On Tuesday night, as Saravanan was returning home on his two-wheeler, he lost control of his vehicle due to the poor road condition on the Madhavaram–Mathur toll plaza stretch, and fell down from the vehicle.

Before he could react, a truck bound for the Manali industrial area ran over him. He sustained a head injury and was killed on the spot. The local residents, angry over the accident caused by the poor road condition, staged a road roko, demanding immediate repair of the highway.

The police officials of Madhavaram station pacified the residents and persuaded them to withdraw the protest by assuring them that steps would be taken to repair the road. Published - November 05, 2026 12:07 am IST
