Sunny Deol-starrer Hindi film ‘Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak’ is scheduled for theatrical release on November 20. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday (November 4, 2026) declined to entertain a public interest litigation seeking to stop the release of Sunny Deol-starrer Hindi film ‘Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak’, observing that a similar plea filed by members of the medical fraternity was already pending before another Bench of the court.A Bench of Acting Chief Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma said there was no reason to entertain a separate petition when the issue was already being examined by a single judge bench.

Even if these petitioners are also doctors, “we see no reason for multiplicity of proceedings,” the Bench observed. The court allowed the petitioners to join the proceedings in the pending case and pursue their representation before the concerned authorities. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on November 20.On November 2, a single judge had issued notice to the authorities on a separate petition alleging that the film portrays doctors working in private hospitals as corrupt and promotes violence against healthcare professionals. The matter is scheduled to be heard on November 16.The present PIL was filed by Dr Nachiketa Bhatia and Dr Dhruv Chauhan, who sought a stay on the film’s release, contending that the official trailer depicts physical violence against medical practitioners as heroic and unfairly generalises corruption in the healthcare profession. The petitioners argued that the film could adversely affect public order and sought directions to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to examine the allegedly objectionable scenes and dialogues and direct their modification or deletion.CBFC’s counsel informed the court that the film had not yet been granted certification and that the application was still under consideration.

He also submitted that the film was a remake of a South Indian movie that was already in the public domain. Published - November 05, 2026 09:31 am IST
