Judicial authorities in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, have issued a non-bailable warrant for actor Rakhi Sawant in connection with a 2010 suicide inquiry stemming from remarks broadcast on her television program, according to a government prosecutor.
District Government Counsel Mridul Kant Srivastava stated that Civil Judge Junior Division Anjali ordered the warrant on Friday after Sawant failed to attend court hearings repeatedly.
The legal matter stems from the November 2010 death of Laxman Ahirwar, a resident of Jhansi's Hansari Prem Nagar district. According to the prosecution, Ahirwar died by suicide following disparaging comments made against him on the television program Rakhi Ka Insaaf.
A formal complaint was filed at the Prem Nagar police station by the victim's mother, Savitri, who alleged that Sawant used objectionable language regarding her son during an October 2010 episode. The broadcast had featured Ahirwar and his wife, Anita, who had experienced marital disagreements.
The court has set the next procedural hearing in the matter for December 1.
Separately, Sawant recently drew public attention for remarks concerning Govinda and Sunita Ahuja, alongside commentary regarding rumors involving Komal Rani Swarnkar. During media interactions, Sawant criticized Govinda regarding marital issues and issued warnings concerning statements made by Komal. Representatives for Govinda have previously dismissed allegations regarding a potential second marriage.
