During routine internet monitoring procedures, cybercrime investigators discovered the altered footage on Facebook. The recording utilized a Hindi voiceover mimicking the official to deceive citizens by encouraging individuals requesting financial assistance to reach out via a specific messaging application number.
Following a formal evaluation submitted on September 1, the cyber unit officially filed charges on the same day to begin tracking down the culprits.
Authorities immediately contacted Meta to request server logs and account details associated with the fraudulent profile, alongside demands to delete the deceptive clip. Preliminary inquiries uncovered multiple similar fabricated clips utilizing the Chief Minister's likeness across various online platforms, with several originating from social media accounts tied to Pakistan.
Investigators are actively working to locate the individuals behind the operation and purge the deceptive material from digital networks. Law enforcement agencies have strongly advised residents to ignore contact numbers or messaging channels promoted in such fraudulent materials, emphasizing that the recordings are entirely artificial fabrications designed to commit financial fraud. Officials also recommended that citizens warn relatives about these digital threats.
