Jailer 2 has crossed the 320 crore rupee mark worldwide prior to completing its first weekend, securing its position as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026. The sequel outpaces the lifetime collections of previous top earners, including Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Suriya’s Karuppu.

Released in theatres on October 15, the Rajinikanth-starrer accumulated a worldwide gross of 321 crore rupees by Saturday evening, alongside approximately 145 crore rupees in domestic net collections. Sunday domestic earnings further elevated the domestic total past 165 crore rupees.

For comparison, previous 2026 releases such as Jana Nayagan grossed 324.68 crore rupees during its run, while Karuppu finished at 310.12 crore rupees. Jailer 2 is also tracking toward challenging the top Telugu film of the year, Peddi, which earned 341.90 crore rupees. The milestone follows Rajinikanth's previous release, Coolie, which achieved a lifetime gross of 518 crore rupees, though the original 2023 Jailer film remains higher with 604.74 crore rupees globally.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the narrative follows retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian confronting a new smuggling network while safeguarding his family. The cast sees returning performances from Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik, alongside new additions such as SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan, plus special cameo appearances.
