Meanwhile, according to sources, the BJP leadership reportedly wishes to retain the former police officer, recognising the need for a strong presence in the southern state ahead of the upcoming parliamentary and assembly elections. Political analysts indicate that the current manoeuvres could be strategic pressure tactics aimed at securing a parliamentary seat or a union ministry position.
